Rugs For Kitchen: Is There A Best Type?

Rugs For Kitchen And Their Types

When it comes to the kitchen there are rugs that are especially made to take the harsh everyday foot traffic. High traffic areas need a more sturdy type of rug. A kitchen needs a rug that holds the color or pattern without fading and not made from a material that will wear away quickly. Saving money on a kitchen rug might be something that comes to mind, but I recommend not going that route. There are advantages to spending a little more money on a good quality kitchen rug. Think about it, it will get wet, folded over, dishes and food dropped on it. You may be tempted to throw it away just to buy another. But I have something better in mind.

Why buy something expensive when all you are going to do is throw it away in a year and buy a new one. But let me run this thought past you? Say you buy a good quality rug that can be machined washed daily or weekly and not fade or material ruin. Would you really be saving more money by throwing one a way once a year just to buy another cheap kitchen rug? Of course not. In the long run you would have saved tons of money buying a higher quality rug and keeping it for five to ten years.

Now when you choice a rug, ensure it is made from high quality material. Most rugs that say they are washable are generally the best choice for a kitchen area. They are great for wear and tear and the clean up for these rugs is as easy as throwing them right into the wash. Even the bigger kitchen rugs can be folded and thrown into the wash. Now if you have something the size of a small kitchen table, then you may want to think about getting it professionally cleaned. It may be too heavy for your washing machine. Another idea is to hand wash it. It is time consuming, but it will save you on the professional cleaning bill.

There are a few advantages to washable rugs:

  1. Better made to withstand the kitchen environment.
  2. Ends of the rug are made to not frayed or material weave unravel.
  3. Easy clean up.

Safety

Kitchen rugs are an essential part of the kitchen They prevent accident caused by wet, and or slippery floors. They add warmth to the room and style to match your decor. They are made not to fit the entire room, but to enhance the areas around the stove, sink, freezer or refrigerator where spills happen often and a good kitchen rug is around to absorb the liquid.

Kitchen rugs tend to bring the rooms together. They can match the furniture, cabinets and tiles yet still work to protect floor and prevent accidents around the kitchen.

When buying a kitchen rug, it is import to match the theme of the kitchen or dinning room. When something does not match in your home, it throws off the harmony and warmth.
